Samphire is a restaurant where we want the ingredients to speak for themselves.  This will be our second season and we're pleased with the way things are going.

We've got a mention in the Good Food Guide and importantly for us, we've got a good following of loyal customers who like the way we do things.

On the South Coast, we're lucky to have a wealth of produce on our doorstep and aspire to buy the highest quality, together with as much locally sourced fish, meat, fruit and veg in order to make, quite simply, delicious fresh food.  

Our aim is for the produce to get from the gate to the plate as quickly and as efficiently as possible so our chef can create great dishes as you like it.  We cook to order, so if it’s in the kitchen, we can do it!

Our menu is inspired by what produce is in season and what the fisherman or farmer has brought in for us.  This means our menu is small and there are daily specials as well as a monthly menu.

Drift-In Surf Cafe opened in March 2009 and is the newest addition to the Wittering Surf Shop empire! Located adjacent to the shop the cafe has a chilled out, relaxed atmosphere and decor which creates a feeling of calm. Well known for our coffee, we use triple certified Origin beans which are organic, soil association and fairtrade certified. The beans are now roasted in Cornwall so it's unbelievable freshness is always guaranteed. Your coffee will be made by a trained barista to ensure that the blend, grind and coffee flavour is second to none...whether your a expresso fan or more of a latte freak there will definately be something on our menu to whet your appetite. With an emphasis on fresh food and good quality ingredients the Drift-In Surf Cafe offers smoothies, milkshakes, fresh juices, homemade soups, wraps and pancakes as well as coffee, tea, hot chocolate and homemade cakes. The menu is light and varied and gives you the chance to try new and exciting flavour combinatons or to stick with good old traditional favourites. As you can see from the pictures the cafe walls are adorned with vintage surfboards and we always ensure the coffee table has the latest surf magazines for you to flick through whilst enjoying your food and drink. As well as surfboards we are also delighted to use our walls to showcase local artist's work from paintings to pictures and even some driftwood art. The Guardian said: Hang out at… The Drift-In Surf Cafe in East Wittering, pretending you're in Bondi, not West Sussex. Now, Nick and Lizzie have just opened the Drift-In Cafe. The style is driftwood and distressed blue walls, with nautical cushions on a bench made from a wooden boat, and the staff coast breezily in and out of the adjoining surf shop.
